APRIL 1: NO SCHOOL SWIM DAY

Families are invited to the Echo Hollow Pool for the No School Swim Day on Mon., April 1 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 1655 Echo Hollow Rd. The cost is $3.50 youth (age 3-17); $4 adults (age 18-59); $3.50 senior (age 60+) and $9 families of five or fewer.

APRIL 1: MINECRAFTERS

The Springfield Public Library will host Chapter Book Storytime on Mon., April 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at 225 5th St. The librarian will read a short chapter book aloud while kids work on an art project. This program is perfect for early elementary ages and preschoolers who are ready for longer stories.

APRIL 2: OFSN COFFEE CONNECTION

The Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN) will host a Coffee Connection every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 72 A Centennial Loop, Suite 150. Parents are invited to meet other parents and enjoy coffee and snacks. There is no need to RSVP.

The Creswell Library will host a Storytime for children 3 years and younger on Tues., April 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at 64 W. Oregon Ave. There will be board books, picture books, songs and rhymes.

APRIL 3: UPPEREL AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

The Springfield Public Library will host a free UpperEL After School Club on Wed., April 3 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 225 5th St. Kids Club is for kids ages nine to 12 years. This week’s kids club will focus on gardening.

APRIL 3: FAMILIES CONNECTED GET AIR DAY

Families Connected will host a Get Air Day every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 pm. at 4211 W. 11th Ave. Parents will have a chance to connect while children play. Parents must remain on site while their children play. The cost is $5 per child and includes Get Air socks for first time visitors. If parents bring personal support workers (PSWs) to help supervise children, the PSWs can jump for free. All participants (adults and children) must complete a waiver that can be found on the Get Air website prior to jumping. The Eugene Public Library will host a 1-on-1 Job Hunt Help for adults on Thurs., April 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the downtown library, located at 100 W. 10th Ave. Job hunters can register for an appointment to get expert advice and assistance to address specific questions and concerns.

APRIL 4: WARM HELPINGS DINNER

The Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN) will host a Warm Helpings Dinner every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 72 A Centennial Loop, Ste. 150, in Springfield. The Eugene Science Center will host Tot Discovery Day on Fri., April 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at 2300 Leo Harris Pkwy. There will be activities and interactive learning stations designed to ignite curiosity and interest in science. Tot Discovery Days are casual, drop-in programs when our youngest visitors can enjoy Eugene Science Center activities “big-kid-free”. Admission to Tot Day is $10 for the first parent-child pair, $2 for each additional child and $5 for each additional adult. Eugene Science Center members receive free admission to Tot Day. The theme for this month’s is Dr. Seuss Science.

APRIL 5: FREE FIRST FRIDAY

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will offer its Free First Friday museum admission on Fri., April 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1430 Johnson Lane.

The Museum of Natural and Cultural History will offer its Free First Friday museum admission on Fri., April 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1680 E. 15th Ave. in Eugene. Families can see some of Oregon’s amazing fossils and learn about Oregon’s ecosystems.

APRIL 5: SCIENCE AFTER SCHOOL

The Eugene Science Center will host Science After School on Fri., April 5 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 2300 Leo Harris Pkwy. The program is an opportunity for kindergarten through 5th grade students to explore science in a fun, hands-on setting. Science After School is led by experienced STEM educators and incorporates both structured and open-ended inquiry based learning opportunities. The cost is $35 per day. Members receive $5 off. Preregistration is required.

APRIL 5: PLAY WITH POETRY

Teens and adults are invited to Play with Poetry on Fri., April 5 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Bethel library, located at 1990 Echo Hollow Rd. Attendees will create collaborative poetry, compose “book spine poetry” by piling books to read their titles in sequence, and make mix-and-match books of acrostic poems to take home.

APRIL 5: ART AND UNWIND

The Creswell Library will host an Art and Unwind event on Fri., April 5 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 64 W. Oregon Ave. The library will have monthly writing prompts available for youth, but they can also write whatever they would like. Afterwards, youth can share their work. Sharing is not required, but is encouraged.

APRIL 5: BINGO

Families can play BINGO every Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, located at 826 W. Main St. in Cottage Grove. The cost is $.50 per game with 80% payout of the money collected. Blackout game cost is $1 with 100% payout from money collected. Children are welcome accompanied by parent. Hot dogs, chips and soda will be available.

APRIL 5: FAMILY FUN NIGHT

The Petersen Barn Community Center will host a Family Fun Night on Fri., April 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 870 Berntzen Rd. Dinner will be served until 6:30 p.m., and there will be games, crafts and live entertainment.

APRIL 5: SALSA DANCE PARTY

The Eugene Library will host a Salsa Dance Party on Fri., April 5 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 100 W. 10th Ave. People of all ages can dance to salsa music performed live by the 11-piece Orquesta Descarga 54.

APRIL 5: FREE FAMILY SWIM

APRIL 6: FIRST SATURDAY PARK WALK

The First Saturday Park Walk will take place on Sat., April 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Spencer Butte Park, located at 85397 Willamette St. (drive south on Willamette St. past 52nd Ave., turn left into the main parking lot). Naturalists from the River House Outdoor Center will lead this free, interpretive walk.

APRIL 6: HOME DEPOT KIDS WORKSHOP

The Home Depot offers a Free Kids Workshop the first Saturday of each month. The Kids Workshop will take place Sat., April 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. This month, kids will build a birdhouse.

APRIL 6: ROCK AND MINERAL SHOW

There will be a Rock and Mineral Show on Sat., April 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, located at 215 W. C St. in Springfield. There will be rock dealers, demonstrations, activities for kids and food. Free admission.

APRIL 6: LITTLE’S PLAY TIME

The Petersen Barn Community Center will host a Little’s Play Time on Sat., April 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at 870 Berntzen Rd. This is a free play time for kids ages birth to four years to explore, climb, play make believe and interact with other children.

The Eugene Saturday Market will take place Sat., April 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the downtown Park blocks, located at 8th Ave. and Oak St. This market will be open rain or shine, and it will feature local arts, food and music.

Family Music Time will be held on Sat., April 6 from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the downtown library, located at 100 W. 10th Ave. This week, Bryan Reed will entertain.

The Springfield Public Library will host Cuentos, a bilingual story time, on Sat., April 6 from 11 a.m. to noon at 225 5th St. Kids will read Spanish and English language books, play bilingual games, sing songs and make crafts.

APRIL 6: KIDS SATURDAY WORKSHOP AT MECCA

Kids and families are invited to the Materials Exchange Center for Community Arts (MECCA) every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to make a creative reuse project. From magnetic puzzles to robot rockets to sock creatures, there’s always a fun, all-ages craft project for kids and families. There is no need to preregister, and all materials are included for each workshop. A $3 to $5 sliding scale donation is requested per child. Children under 10 years should be accompanied by an adult. MECCA is located at 449 Willamette St.

APRIL 6: WILDFLOWER WALK

Mt. Pisgah Arboretum will host a Wildflower Walk on Sat., April 6 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 4901 Frank Parrish Rd. Learn about the important role of flies in the pollination of early spring wildflowers. Enjoy spring wildflower displays along gentle trails that pass through forests, wetlands, meadows and riverside habitats. This event will be held rain or shine. Meet at the Arboretum Visitor Center. Don’t forget your parking pass. The cost is $5 for non-members and free for arboretum members.

SpringFilm on the Move will host a free screening of Rain Man (Rated: R) on Thurs., April 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wildish Theater, located at 630 Main St. in Springfield. After the movie, there will be a short discussion.

APRIL 12: LITTLE WONDERS STORIES & ACTIVITIES

Parents and preschool-age children are invited to the Museum of Natural and Cultural History (MNCH) for Little Wonders Stories and Activities for Preschoolers on Fri., April 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This month’s theme is rapid rivers and sleepy streams. The Little Wonders program is included with admission and is free for MNCH members. MNCH is located at 1680 E. 15th Ave.

The Willamalane Park and Recreation District will host its annual MEGGA Hunt on Sat., April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Lively Park, located at 6100 Thurston Rd. Kids can hunt for more than 25,000 eggs and prizes. There will also be games, crafts, train rides and visits with Hops the Bunny. The event will be held rain or shine. Noncompetitive hunts take place at the end of the event and are for participants who would benefit from a quieter egg hunt experience. The adaptive hunt is for teens and adults with disabilities. APRIL 24: FAMILIES CONNECTED GET AIR DAY

Families Connected will host a Get Air Day every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 pm. at 4211 W. 11th Ave. Parents will have a chance to connect while children play. Parents must remain on site while their children play. The cost is $5 per child and includes Get Air socks for first time visitors. If parents bring personal support workers (PSWs) to help supervise children, the PSWs can jump for free. All participants (adults and children) must complete a waiver that can be found on the Get Air website prior to jumping.
